Teaching Philosophy

I view the role as dance teacher as both an honor and responsibility and hold myself to a high standard as a part of cultivating future dancers. Building on the incredible teachers within my own training, I aim to create a nurturing, empowering and inspiring learning environment. Constantly striving to find new imagery, explanations and teaching strategies, I aim to create a student-centered class that focuses on dance technique, artistry and the development of crucial life skills of discipline, creativity, community and confidence.

Jazz

Jazz offers endless opportunities for expression, exploration and creativity. As a Jazz teacher, I aim to pass along the beautiful history of Jazz dance while emphasizing innovation, freedom of movement and artistry.

Tap

Tap dance allows students to become musicians as well as dancers. As a musician and dancer, I focus on using new and innovative ways to teach musicality, rhythm and tap technique to students.

Ballet

As the core of dance training, ballet teaches discipline, body awareness and creative expression. Within ballet, I highlight the importance of storytelling, hard work and learning how to learn.
